Dave’s Weekly Market Update for 5/17/24

Eggs:
The egg market hit bottom last week and now is beginning to go back up some. Hopefully there will be a reasonable increase and not the traditional overreaction. I am hearing a minor .05 to .10 increase, but as always time will tell!
Butter:
Butter has bounced all around this week . Up Monday, down Tuesday, up Wednesday and flat today.
Here is a snapshot of the futures as of today. Not showing any drops that is for sure.
Cheese:
Blocks backed off from the high of $1.98 reached last Thursday and are almost back to the average of last week. Barrels on the other hand are through the roof. They closed .22 higher than blocks with only 5 loads changing hands so far. I guess all the exports tightened up the supply in a big way. It does not seem sustainable to stay this high.
Cream:
With the way butter has gone up, I believe we will see about a .10 increase per qt on both 36% and 40% for the month of June. This has been a constant increase month over month.
