JD Spangler, Honor Food’s New President

Milford, DE – September 12th, 2024—Burris Logistics is proud to announce the appointment of JD Spangler as the new President of Honor Foods, a Burris Logistics company. JD Spangler, who most recently served as the CEO of Atlantic International Food Group (AIFG), brings a wealth of experience in the food industry and a proven track record of driving growth, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.

Retiring President Walt Tullis, who led the development of a state-of-the-art 286,000 sq. ft facility in Philadelphia, PA, and the successful acquisition of Sommer Maid Creamery, R.W. Zant, and Sunny Morning Foods during his 12-year tenure, will serve as an advisor until the end of 2024 to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Spangler joins Honor Foods with a unique blend of manufacturer and distributor experience, which positions him extremely well to lead the Company.

Before his role at AIFG, Mr. Spangler held senior leadership positions in several regional specialty food distributors, where he demonstrated his ability to manage complex operations, develop innovative solutions, and lead teams to achieve outstanding results. His deep understanding of the foodservice industry and his commitment to customer satisfaction make him an excellent fit for leading Honor Foods.

He will work closely with the Honor Foods Team to build on the company’s strong foundation and explore new opportunities for innovation and expansion in the food service industry.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Spangler spent twenty successful years in progressive leadership roles with PepsiCo and the Sara Lee companies. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and has a history of leading companies through periods of significant growth and transformation. His leadership will be key to ensuring that Honor Foods remains at the forefront of the foodservice redistribution industry.
