Weekly Foodservice Market Information from Honor Foods

Dave’s Weekly Market Update for 11/29/24

Valuable insights on the latest market price changes for eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.

Eggs:

The egg market has been starting its downward spiral, and with the bulk of the holiday demand behind us, I expect more to come. I believe the AI outbreaks have slowed the decline. Cage-free eggs are still in short supply due to their lower price point. It was on the NBC News the other night about shortages in retail stores nationwide. The cartons have been in short supply while the loose eggs seem to be abundant.

Butter:

The Butter market keeps dropping, which is good for the end users but not so much for the distributors. It did have a slight uptick today, but I still feel we will see more declines.

Cheese:

Both Blocks and Barrels declined again this week. Both are poised to go down even more next week. This has been a tough couple of months with all the declining markets. It is great for the end users but not so much for all the distributors .There seems to be an adequate amount of inventory as compared to the present demand level. The domestic markets are low compared to world markets so this will create export demand and help the market stabilize before dropping much more.
